Hi, Kids! Today let’s wrap up the stories from Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies No. 125 (March 1953 with an Elmer Fudd and Daffy Duck story with beautiful artwork from stalwart, Phil De Lara.
Mr. De Lara began his career in the 30s doing animation for Warner Brothers while working in the 40s doing comic book work doing for Dell/Western. He had a stellar resume, working with animation legend Chuck Jones on all the major Warner characters (Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, etc).
Phil De Lara found a permanent home with Dell/Western comics (Four Color) around 1950 and stayed with the company until 1973. With Western/Dell, he became the artist most associated with drawing Daffy Duck stories. As we enjoy this story, it’s easy to see how much Mr. De Lara loved the character. I don't know about you, kids, but I felt for Daffy in this story! C'mon, Elmer! Let Daffy use the new birdbath!
Coming up next: I think it's about time for a Christmas story, don't you? See you soon, kids!
